Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill has been returned unopposed as the Malaysian National Cycling Federation president for the 2026-2030 term, promising to elevate Malaysian cycling to world-class level

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill has been returned unopposed as the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president for the 2026-2030 term.

The MNCF announced this following a special executive committee meeting held last Thursday, shortly after the nomination process closed.

Acting MNCF secretary Norhazlee Md Zaki said Amarjit, representing Perak, met all nomination requirements to contest in the elections at the annual general meeting scheduled for this Sunday.

Amarjit, who is also the Asian Cycling Confederation president, defeated Yunus Ibrahim and Mazlan Md Jail at the elections for 2023-2026 term held in Melaka on Oct 12, 2024.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all state cycling associations for their trust in me to continue leading MNCF in the next term. It is a great honour for me.

“It means I have much work to do moving forward. I aim to bring cycling in Malaysia to a world-class level,” he said in a statement issued by MNCF today.

He also described the successful hosting of the 2026 Track World Cup, which concluded last Sunday, as proof of MNCF’s capability to organise world-class events with excellence.

Meanwhile, the contest for the deputy president’s post will be a straight fight between vice-presidents Norazman Abu Samah (Melaka) and Mohd Saiful Abdul Jalil (Putrajaya).

For the vice-presidential contest, eight candidates are vying for the five posts up for grabs.
