MyTOWN to serve up school holiday food festival with over 50 vendors and live performances

KUALA LUMPUR: MyTOWN Shopping Centre is set to bring together food lovers, families and shoppers during the school holiday season with the launch of MyFoodie Fest, a 12-day celebration featuring food experiences, entertainment and community-driven activities.

Taking place from May 27 to June 7, the festival aims to transform the shopping centre into a vibrant lifestyle destination where visitors can enjoy food, live performances and interactive experiences throughout the school break.

The festival will be divided into two themed experiences, beginning with Foodies on Fire from May 27 to June 2 at Town Park and Sunken Garden.

The outdoor event will feature more than 50 vendors serving grilled, fried and street food favourites, alongside live performances and family-friendly activities.

This will be followed by Delectable Foodies x Coffee Week from June 3 to June 7 at Central Town, which will showcase artisanal coffee, pastries, desserts and other sweet offerings within a garden-inspired setting.

Visitors can also expect an extensive programme of activities throughout the festival, including a Gamer’s Hideout Cooking-Off Challenge, a Grill-It-Yourself Corner, busking performances and a meet-and-greet session with children’s favourites Didi & Friends.

Local performers including Aisha Retno and Cherpen are also scheduled to perform during the event.

The festival is being organised with support from several tenants and partners, including IKEA, Village Grocer, Decathlon, Eiger, Gamer’s Hideout, Kyros Kebab, Juice Works and Absolute Thai.

MyTOWN Shopping Centre General Manager Mohd Azhan Che Mat said the event reflects the shopping centre’s broader role as a community and lifestyle destination.

“At MyTOWN, we believe shopping centres are more than just places to shop. They are spaces where people come together to discover something new and enjoy meaningful moments with one another.

“Through MyFoodie Fest, we hope to bring families, friends and communities together through food, fun and shared experiences during the school holiday season,” he said.

Beyond entertainment and dining experiences, the festival will also include a community initiative in collaboration with Gamer’s Hideout and Kechara Soup Kitchen Society.

The organisation, which has supported underserved communities in Malaysia for more than 17 years through food assistance and empowerment programmes, will participate in fundraising and awareness activities during the event.

As part of the initiative, shoppers can join the Cooking-Off Challenge by making a minimum RM1 donation to play the multiplayer game Overcooked on Nintendo Switch. Participants who achieve target scores will stand a chance to win vouchers, with all proceeds channelled directly to Kechara Soup Kitchen Society.

Azhan said the collaboration aims to encourage visitors to contribute to meaningful causes while enjoying the festival.

“Beyond creating experiences, we also want to give back to the community in meaningful ways. We hope this collaboration encourages shoppers to come together not only through food and entertainment, but also through small acts of kindness that can make a difference,” he said.

As part of the promotional activities, shoppers who meet minimum spending requirements can redeem complimentary corn and grill sets sponsored by Village Grocer, limited to the first 500 redemptions until June 2.

Customers who spend RM150 in a single receipt can also participate in a digital spin-the-wheel promotion for a chance to win e-cash vouchers and other prizes.

MyTOWN is also expanding its retail offerings with several new tenants joining the shopping centre, including U.JU Home, Siti Khadijah, Mamabunz and MKW: My Kreative World.
