Team Manager Mohd Saifuldin Mohd Mokhtar described the success as the result of consistent teamwork despite facing intense competition from more established and highly regarded teams.
UC TATI Racing Team ended a wait of more than a decade to return to the podium, delivering a double podium finish by securing second and third overall at the Formula Student Malaysia (FMS) 2026, which concluded at Litar Dato’ Sagor, Perak.
The achievement is made even more remarkable as the team, made up entirely of students from Universiti College Terengganu Advanced Technical Institute (UC TATI) in Kemaman, Terengganu, also dominated a significant portion of the podium finishes in the Formula 150cc Stock Production (F150SP) category, which featured eight competitive events.
Team Manager Mohd Saifuldin Mohd Mokhtar described the success as the result of consistent teamwork despite facing intense competition from more established and highly regarded teams.
“It was not an easy journey for us to reach the podium. The level of competition was extremely high, with many experienced teams and well-developed machines in the field.
“However, discipline and strong team communication were key to maintaining our focus throughout every event. We managed to secure podium finishes in about half of the events we entered, including first and second place finishes in the same event,” he said.

He added that the team’s performance in the Skidpad event, where they secured both first and second place, serves as a key benchmark for the capability of the race cars fully designed and built by UC TATI engineering students.
“We are particularly proud to be the only team that completed the Skidpad event without hitting a single cone, which highlights the stability and precision of our car.
“This achievement reflects the quality and readiness of our engineering students in translating technical knowledge into real-world racing performance,” he added.
In the competition, UC TATI Racing Team fielded two cars in the F150SP category and achieved third place in Acceleration, first and second in Skidpad, second and third in Autocross, and second in Endurance.
This consistent performance secured the team second and third overall standings for FMS 2026, marking a strong comeback in the national motorsport scene.
For the record, the team’s last competitive outing was at the EIMARACE Championship in 2015 in Kuantan, where they finished second in the race and emerged as overall team champions.
