A London durian stall selling fresh air-flown Malaysian durians has gone viral online, with many users calling the prices reasonable.

WHILE premium durian varieties in Malaysia typically cost upwards of RM50, a recent Reddit post has drawn attention to freshly imported Malaysian durians being sold in London’s Chinatown at prices that many netizens considered surprisingly reasonable.

The post, shared on Reddit, claimed that a stall in the British capital was offering premium varieties including Musang King, Black Thorn and Red Prawn at £20 (RM109) per serving, with each portion weighing approximately 330g.

According to the user, the durians were air-flown from a well-known Malaysian distributor and sold fresh in London’s Chinatown, a rarity in the United Kingdom, where durians are more commonly available in frozen or chilled form.

“To us, it seems very expensive, but it’s not bad considering you’re getting fresh premium durian in the middle of London.

“Opened right before my eyes like in SS2, including the tapping of the bottom of the durian with a knife,” the Reddit user wrote in the comments section.

The post quickly attracted reactions from netizens, many of whom were impressed by the pricing considering the fruit had been transported thousands of miles from Malaysia.

“Quite fair pricing. Even fresh air-flown fish comes with a higher markup,” one user commented.

“Pretty reasonable price for fresh durian in London,” another wrote.
