SEREMBAN: A teenager was ordered to serve a three-year sentence at Henry Gurney School starting today by the Magistrate’s Court here after being found guilty of causing the deaths of three individuals in an accident at a traffic light intersection near Senawang on March 6 last year.

The court further ordered the teenage offender, now 18, to be placed under the supervision of a probation officer for a year after completing his rehabilitation period, while his mother was given a three-year good behaviour bond with a security of RM4,000 under Section 93(1) of the Children Act 2001 (Act 611).

The teenager was also fined RM2,000 under Section 26(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving without a licence.

The case was handled by deputy public prosecutor Noor Hafiza Ishak while the teenager was represented by lawyer Johan Radzi.

Speaking to reporters, Noor Hafiza said her party was seeking a prison sentence for the accused, while the defence lawyer requested that her client be released on a good behaviour bond before sentencing.

“However, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) recommended that the accused be placed at Henry Gurney School and the court accepted the recommendation,” she said after the proceedings.

The court also allowed three representatives of the victim’s family to read out a Victim Impact Statement before sentencing.

Meanwhile, Johan said his client appeared in court today on crutches because he still suffered injuries following the accident, based on the medical report received.

The teenager was charged with driving a Honda Jazz dangerously, causing the deaths of Muhammad Aidil Ramdan Abdullah, 15, Muhammad Aswari Lotpi, 16, and Aisar Azim Abdullah, 17, at Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1 at 8.30 pm, March 6, 2025.

The charge was brought under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 which carries a jail sentence of between five and 10 years and a minimum fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000 if convicted.
