JMR makes history with 14th-placed finish on Le Mans debut

Johor Motorsports Racing finishes 14th in its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking a historic milestone for Malaysian motorsport

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) has etched a new chapter in Malaysian motorsport history by finishing 14th on its debut at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France on Sunday.

According to a JMR statement, team owner and racer Tunku Panglima of Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, as well as pro drivers Ben Green and Lorcan Hanafin, played a crucial roles in completing the race in the LMGT3 class.

Tunku Abdul Rahman said he was super proud that his team did an incredible job during the race. 

“This is our first try and we know what to expect next time; we’ll be back stronger and the goal is to win this race one day,” he said in the statement.

Meanwhile, Green admitted he was relieved to see the chequered flag after overcoming the demanding challenge of the 24-hour endurance classic on their Le Mans debut alongside Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The race was won by TF Sport, who saw off a sustained challenge from Akkodis ASP Team and Heart of Racing Team, who came in second and third respectively.

JMR will now shift its focus to its second appearance at the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium in two weeks’ time.
