KUSKOP approves nearly RM2 billion in financing for 88,150 MSMEs, focusing on business growth, market access, and capacity building through the PowerUp10k campaign

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development has approved nearly RM2 billion in financing within the first two months of this year.

The funding has benefited 88,150 micro, small and medium enterprises nationwide.

Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said the achievement reflects the government’s strong commitment to strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“We will not only ensure business continuity but also help businesses scale up and strengthen their capabilities to face future challenges,” he said.

He added that KUSKOP is ramping up efforts through the PowerUp10k campaign. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the capacity and competitiveness of 10,000 Malaysian companies.

Beyond financing, the ministry is focusing on expanding market access for MSMEs. The goal is to ensure sustainable growth both domestically and internationally.

Touching on current economic pressures, Sim noted that Malaysia is inevitably affected by global uncertainties. He acknowledged that some government decisions may be difficult or unpopular.

He stressed that the priority remains protecting the rakyat and maintaining economic stability. Citing the Budi Madani RON95 programme as an example, he said it has helped ensure fuel supply stability.

The minister spoke after attending the “Balik Rumah One Hope Charity” programme. The event highlighted the organisation’s distribution of more than RM100 million in medical assistance over five years.
