Man claims he found plastic inside a squid, sparking viral debate and jokes online about pollution, straws and marine life
A man’s claim that he discovered plastic inside a squid has amused and intrigued netizens, with many sharing jokes and theories after he posted about the incident on social media.
The man shared a photograph on Threads showing what appeared to be a piece of plastic removed from the squid.
“Please do not throw plastics carelessly. I got all this from a squid,” he wrote in the post.
The post quickly attracted attention, with users expressing surprise and offering their own humorous interpretations of what the object might be.
One netizen suggested it was not plastic but a drinking straw.
“Turtles used to eat them and now the squid eats the straw,” the user commented.
Another speculated that the object looked more like a plastic spoon.
Most Thread users, however, responded with light-hearted jokes.
“Sotong had implants,” one user wrote.
“Please educate the squids not to eat plastic,” another joked.
One commenter even quipped that turtles do not die from eating straws but from eating squids that have already consumed them.
Others continued the playful exchange, with one user expressing sympathy for turtles over what they described as years of “defamation” for being associated with plastic pollution.
Responding to the comment, the post’s author jokingly wrote: “Sotong Lives Matter.”
