Viral CCTV shows a thief disabling security and forcing entry into a Johor Bahru café before taking cash with netizens question if it was pre-planned.
A small business break-in in Johor Bahru has raised fresh concerns online after CCTV footage from a cafe surfaced, allegedly showing a thief carefully disabling security features before forcing entry into the premises.
The footage was shared on Threads by café owner user @ashhryyyyyy, who said it was recovered after the shop’s WiFi was restored, allowing the external CCTV system to resume recording.
According to the post, the intruder was seen initially sitting outside the café before climbing up to tamper with an external alarm component.
He is believed to have removed a white rod-like device and discarded it nearby before briefly returning to sit outside the premises.
The suspect then allegedly used a sharp object to force open the door lock and gain entry into the café.
Inside, he was seen moving in a controlled manner, scanning the surroundings before targeting the cashier area and attempting to open the cash register using a handheld tool.
The cafe owner said only small amounts of cash, mainly coins and minor items from the counter, were taken during the incident.
In later footage, the suspect continued searching through the cafe interior using a flashlight, before eventually exiting after several minutes inside the premises.
The entire break-in is understood to have lasted roughly five minutes based on CCTV timestamps.
The suspect was seen wearing a light blue shirt, blue cap and sling bag throughout the incident.
The post quickly gained attention online, with users suggesting the act may not have been random.
Some commenters claimed the suspect appeared familiar with the premises layout and may have monitored the cafe beforehand.
Others pointed out the methodical nature of the break-in, suggesting possible prior experience with doors, locks or alarm systems.
Attention also turned to potential forensic evidence, with users pointing out that fingerprints and traces left at the scene could assist police investigations.
As of publication time, there has been no official statement from authorities, and the cafe owner has not provided further updates.
