Police investigate a schoolboy altercation at a mosque football pitch in Shah Alam, with one student sustaining a soft tissue injury

SHAH ALAM: Police have launched an investigation following an altercation between two schoolboys at a mosque football pitch in Shah Alam on June 12.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Sarudin Samah said a report had been lodged by the father of one of the students regarding the 1 pm incident, adding that an initial investigation revealed that the two boys, aged 13 and 14, knew each other and attended the same school.

“The altercation involved only two students, though it is believed that several other students witnessed the fight.

“The 13-year-old victim subsequently received treatment at Shah Alam Hospital, where he was confirmed to have sustained a soft tissue injury,” he said in a statement.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt. If convicted, offenders face up to one year in prison, a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both.

Sarudin urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohammad Amirul Zulkifli, on 012-5583436, or to visit their nearest police station to assist with the inquiry.
