Malaysia’s S. Sivasangari pushed world number five Nour El Sherbini to the limit before bowing out in a five-game thriller, ending the national challenge in Chicago.
KUALA LUMPUR: National squash ace S. Sivasangari’s valiant run at the Windy City Open 2026 ended in the quarter-finals after a narrow defeat to Egypt’s Nour El Sherbini.
The world number six from Malaysia succumbed to the third seed 6-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 8-11 in a gripping 51-minute battle in Chicago.
Sivasangari’s exit concludes the Malaysian campaign at the prestigious Platinum-tier tournament.
This follows earlier defeats for the national squad in the round of 16 on Saturday.
Men’s number one Ng Eain Yow lost to New Zealand’s Paul Coll, while rising star Aira Azman was defeated by American Olivia Weaver.
