Council chairman Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff said a total of 1,336 candidates, or 3.50%, achieved a perfect CGPA of 4.00, an increase from 1,266 candidates (3.06%) in the previous year.
GOMBAK: The overall performance of candidates in the 2025 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination has improved, with the national cumulative grade point average (CGPA) rising to 2.88 from 2.85 in 2024, according to the Malaysian Examinations Council.
Council chairman Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff said a total of 1,336 candidates, or 3.50%, achieved a perfect CGPA of 4.00, an increase from 1,266 candidates (3.06%) in the previous year.
He added that the proportion of candidates scoring a CGPA of 3.75 and above rose to 11.81%, compared with 10.71% in 2024, while those achieving a CGPA of 3.00 and above increased to 46.63% from 44.97%.
“The number of candidates obtaining straight As in four or five subjects increased to 3.53%, compared with 3.09% last year. Meanwhile, the percentage of candidates who achieved full passes in four and five subjects (grade C and above) rose to 77.64% from 76.55%,” he said at the announcement of the 2025 STPM results today.
Md Amin added that the improved performance came despite a decline in candidate numbers, with registrations falling to 40,199 from 42,861 in 2024, while attendance also dropped to 38,144 from 41,434.
He said the council had selected 18 national top STPM students across various categories to receive awards comprising RM1,000, a plaque and a certificate.
The recipients include seven top students from the Science stream, seven from the Social Science stream, one Orang Asli student, and three students with special educational needs, covering categories including spastic, blind and visually impaired candidates.
The 2025 STPM results were released at 11.30am today and can be checked online via the Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM) portal or through SMS.
