Dashcam footage of minors riding unsupervised on a main road ignites fierce debate over parental negligence and local safety culture.

A VIDEO allegedly shared on Threads has drawn public attention after appearing to show two young individuals riding a small electric scooter on a public road without wearing safety gear.

According to a post by user @fatennajiah, the dashcam footage was recorded at approximately 1.20pm today (June 11).

The video allegedly shows two riders, believed to be children, on a red mini electric scooter travelling along a main road.

Based on the footage, both riders appear not to be wearing helmets. The passenger appears to be wearing what looks like a school uniform and a white head covering, suggesting they may be of school-going age.

The clip has since triggered discussion online regarding road safety and the use of such vehicles by minors on public roads, with some users identifying the location as Kota Masai in Pasir Gudang.

“Why are you even surprised?” commented user @nadiidea.arts, while @awesomenaj added that the area is known for reckless behaviour, noting, “There are also schoolkids riding in groups, lying flat on their bikes like Superman.”

Local residents expressed frustration over the lack of parental supervision and general disregard for safety rules. “I live here, I don’t even want to talk about it. Where are the parents?” asked @kapibarakkkkkkkkkk, pointing out that even elderly people misuse electric scooters without fully understanding the risks.

User @nabilah.husna__ highlighted what she described as a broader culture of defiance in the area, stating: “This area has a lot of stubborn people. So much awareness has been shown, but they remain defiant. Then their excuse is: ‘Oh, it’s nearby, not far.’”

Concerns extended beyond the lack of helmets. User @shahera.hazarin admitted: “Sigh, even I’m scared watching that kid ride the bike. Moving around like that.”

Another user, nurarifahsam, raised practical safety concerns, asking: “What if the battery runs out while they’re riding?”

Many commenters warned of the legal and moral consequences facing negligent guardians, with @farfar26_ stating that parents would ultimately be held responsible if an accident occurred.

User @theofficial_lailattul pointed out the high-risk nature of the specific junction, noting: “This junction is where the most accidents happen… Honestly, it’s strange how parents still allow children to travel like this.”

Despite concerns about backlash, @nur.sahira_ urged caution, saying: “If I say too much, they’ll accuse me of wishing bad things to happen. But please wake up before something bad does happen.”
