Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash return for Prime Video’s 1950s-set prequel, slated to premiere in 2027

Fans of The Boys got a glimpse into the franchise’s twisted past as Prime Video unveiled the first teaser for Vought Rising, an upcoming prequel series set decades before the events of the hit superhero satire.

The teaser offers the first look at the highly-anticipated expansion of The Boys universe, which is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in 2027. While details remain tightly under wraps, the series promises to explore the origins of the powerful and morally questionable Vought International, the corporation at the centre of the franchise’s corruption, cover-ups and superpowered chaos.

Set in the 1950s, Vought Rising takes audiences back to where it all began, delving into the early years of the company that would eventually shape the world of The Boys. The newly released footage teases a dark and unsettling chapter in the franchise’s history, hinting at the events and characters that laid the foundation for the universe fans know today.

Returning to the franchise are Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who will reprise their roles and also serve as producers on the series. They will be joined by a cast that includes Mason Dye, Will Hochman, KiKi Layne, Jorden Myrie, Nicolo Pasetti, Elizabeth Posey, Ricky Staffieri and Brian J. Smith.

The series will be led by showrunner and executive producer Paul Grellong. Joining him on the executive producing team are several familiar names from the franchise, including Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Garth Ennis, among others.

With The Boys giving fans a bow out after its fifth and final season, Vought Rising looks set to ensure that Vought’s story is far from over. For fans eager to uncover how the corporation’s dark legacy began, the prequel may offer the most revealing chapter yet.
