KUALA LUMPUR: IMU University (IMU) has achieved a landmark milestone in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, making its debut in Dentistry ranking 100 in the world and the highest citation score among Malaysian universities.
The milestone is a significant breakthrough for Malaysia’s private higher education sector, as IMU becomes the first private institution in the country to be ranked in Dentistry.
Beyond Dentistry, the university also maintained its standing in other key healthcare fields.
Its Pharmacy programme retained its position as the top private university in Malaysia within the global Top 200 for the third consecutive year, while achieving the highest citation score and h-index locally.
Meanwhile, IMU’s Medicine programme continued to feature in global subject rankings, with the highest citation scores among private universities, reflecting its contributions to healthcare research and innovation.
IMU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Emerita Datuk Dr Asma Ismail, said the recognition highlights the university’s continued commitment to excellence.
“These recognitions across three disciplines reflect the dedication of our faculty, students, alumni and partners, and our shared commitment to advancing health-focused education and research.
“Dentistry’s Top 100 debut, alongside the continued performance of Medicine and Pharmacy, underscores IMU’s growing impact across multiple healthcare disciplines.”
The QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluates institutions based on academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations, and international research collaborations.
IMU’s performance across multiple disciplines reflects its focus on delivering industry-relevant education, while strengthening its global research footprint.
